Mechanical Design Engineer, Leicester (Hybrid Remote), up to £40,000

I am working in partnership with a world-renowned, industry leading security solutions provider. Within this part of the company, you will be working on intriguing projects in conjunction with Ministry of Justice departments across the globe in designing robust, cutting-edge wireless security products which contribute to securing and protecting people, premises and valuables.

We are looking for an ambitious and talented Mechanical Design Engineer developing mechanical aspects for new and supporting existing products. Contributing to all aspects of mechanical development, manufacturing and maintenance with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement with the QMS team and supporting the NPI process. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Support efforts that ensure new products quickly reach the market.
  • Develop new IP and ensure that it can be protected by following IP documentation and confidentiality processes.
  • Support and drive the NPI processes to ensure a full and complete product is released.
  • Ensure that all Mechanical designs and calculations are fully documented and archived.
  • Ensure that all designs are fully type approved to ensure that they meet all aspects of functionality and performance defined in the Requirement Specifications.
  • Provide technical support to operations and production teams to ensure product designs are understood and can be correctly manufactured and maintained.
  • Work in team to develop excellent, robust and easy to use new products.

      • Key Skills that are essential to be at the right level for this role:

    1. SolidWorks or similar CAD package
    2. Component drawings
    3. Mechanical Design
    4. Design & manufacture of plastic parts
    5. Background in a Product Design environment

        6. Desirable Skills

      1. Plastic injection moulding background
      2. Ability to contribute to maintenance and improvement department QMS systems, related to product design.
      3. FMEA experience

        4. Salary/Benefits:

      4. Up to £40,000
      5. Holidays – 25 days plus banks
      6. Option to join a contributory pension scheme.
