We have a brilliant opportunity for a Systems Engineer to technically support development projects in high performance infrared focal plane array detectors.  Technical leadership, communications, problem solving, project planning, and technical writing skills are all essential skills required for this role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

In the role you will be responsible for the integrity and suitability of the design of infrared detector products and for leading the lifecycle management of the product, including design reviews, verification, and qualification activities. Providing leadership to a technical team with a broad range of physics, mechanical, electronics and problem solving skills is also an integral part of the role.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• A degree in Physics (preferable) or relevant Engineering discipline (Electronics, Systems etc) is required for this role and an MSc or PhD is advantageous.
• Experience or an interest in electro-optics or semiconductor devices is desirable. 
• A track record of product development and an ability to negotiate, build consensus and influence effectively.  
• Must be able to draw clear conclusions from complex numerical data and be able to apply a range of physical principles (electrical, thermal, mechanical, optical) to a wide range of technological problems.  
• Able to coordinate efforts in, and over time, to lead the team’s understanding in some of the following areas: silicon IC processes and design procedures, semiconductor manufacturing and design, infrared detectors and their applications, qualification procedures for military applications, cryogenic techniques.
