An exciting opportunity has risen for an experienced AWS and SCOM specialist engineer to join a global Aerospace and Defence sector organisation, You must have a strong all round technical ability with an excellent working knowledge of Infrastructure Systems. You will have an excellent understanding of AWS and MS Products, including SCOM 2016 and virtualised Windows.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

AWS

• Be responsible for the planning, implementation, and growth of the AWS cloud infrastructure
• Manage a continuous integration and deployment methodology for server-based technologies
• Work alongside architecture and engineering teams to design and implement any scalable software services
• Ensure necessary system security by using best in class cloud security solutions
• Recommend process and architecture improvements
• Troubleshoot the system and solve problems across all platform and application domains
• Oversee pre-production acceptance testing to ensure the high quality of a company’s services and products

SCOM

• Develop Custom Reports ref: AvailabilityPerformanceCapacity – creation and scheduling in SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
• Pro-Active alert tuning – Creation of SQL scripts to identify and investigate alert trends feeding into ongoing alert tuning cycles.
• Custom management pack development – because of alert tuning cycles. The majority of custom management packs are developed with Microsoft Visual Studio Authoring Extensions (VSAE).
• Development of documentation to support the delivery and maintenance of system solutions
• Perform administrative tasks from the System Centre Operation Manager console
• Provide application support for the SCOM platform and create and maintain monitoring and notification rules
• Review and update SCOM console security, apply patches, create SCOM console roles and reviews, and create and install custom Management Packs (MP) as needed
• Deliver SCOM views via Remote Desktop Web Access, create custom reports on results of SCOM monitoring, use SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) technologies, and provide problem resolution for SCOM components and related custom scripts
• Work with project managers and peers to understand and solve challenging technical problems, produce effort estimates, and improve system functionality and reliability
