Compliance and Regulations Engineer required to work for a major international consumer products company.

You will support their head office in the Far East through work related to European regulations and European/International product safety standards, to ensure that:

  • products comply with all European and international standards and regulations
  • the company has the latest information about European and international standards and regulations
  • the company can influence the development of standards and regulations so that the company, the industry and customers are not disadvantaged by proposed changes.

Requirements – Essential

  • University Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of product safety standards
  • Familiarity with EU legislation such as Machinery Directive, Low voltage Directive
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Good time management skills
  • A willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Worked in the power tool, garden machinery or home appliance industry
  • Worked in a product testing environment for a manufacturer or test house
  • Background in design and development of high-volume consumer products
  • Project management for new product introduction
  • Worked in product certification / compliance
  • Worked with trade associations
  • Familiarity with EU institutions and procedures
  • German speaker

Responsibilities

  • participation in standards committees (BSI, CENELEC, CEN, ISO, IEC)
  • to get information about standards development, details of requirements, interpretation
  • to develop company’s proposals by working with the head office
  • participation in European and UK trade associations (EPTA / EGMF)
  • to get information about current and future legislation
  • to get information on our competitors’ activity
  • to make company’s proposals to trade associations, working with head office
  • to participate in the lobbying activity of trade associations against adverse legislation
  • to handle questions or challenges raised by market surveillance authorities etc.
  • to support head office when there are problems with test houses in Europe
